AeroFML

Building on SMW successful research in alloys of the Al-Mg-Sc system, this application-driven project aims to develop a new generation of Fiber metal Laminates (FML) utilizing modern Al-Mg-Sc alloys. Funded by ERA.Net-RUS programme, the project consortium includes Airbus, Fraunhofer Institute and Austria's LKR Institute of Technology. The Project aims to reduce the weight of aircraft structures while enhancing corrosion resistance properties. The end-user is keen to potentially implement FML in A380 aircraft.
