A new innovative R&D project launched by SMW jointly with Israel's Sheltagen -- to develop magnesium alloy bone bio-implants. The mission is to develop material possessing all sought characteristics for implants that dissolve in the body. Deployment of such an alloy would make second surgery no longer necessary – with the introduction of tailor-made personalized implantable materials able to dissolve in a patient’s body without any side-effects. The benefits to be delivered by the project are very clear – pertaining to individual patients as well as to the healthcare system as a whole. JSC Rusnano is currently considering its potential participation in the project.
